Located in Lockport, New York, Briarwood Manor is a family owned business that offers over 40 years and three generations of experience in the care of the elderly. The essence of Briarwood Manor is the family like atmosphere and warmth felt by the residents and visitors. The entire staff creates this feeling through the caring and friendliness they exhibit. Briarwood Manor is the only licensed Assisted Living Program (ALP) in Niagara County and is regulated by the Department of Health. Spacious landscaped grounds with porch, patio and walking areas give Briarwood Manor a pleasant ambiance. The resident's private gardening area and outdoor patio is open during the summer season for their participation and enjoyment. Briarwood Manor is constructed of fire resistant materials and is equipped with a fire protection system that is connected to the local Fire Department. Private and semi-private rooms are completely furnished in a cheerful decor and each has a complete private bath which is safety equipped. Emergency pull-cords are conveniently located in each bedroom and bathroom for our residents. These are monitored in each of the aides stations. Handrails and appropriate lighting are along each hallway of the building to ensure our residents safety. Residents are diverse as in any community, ranging from middle age to older adults, male and female, single and married, with a variety of ethnic, religious and social backgrounds. Each resident is supervised and encouraged to reach the fullest potential of their individual capabilities. This is accomplished while maintaining the residents independence and providing a stimulating environment. Three nutritionally balanced "home cooked" meals a day are planned under the supervision of a registered dietitian. These meals are served waitress style in a bright, beautifully decorated dining room promoting warm friendships. Nutritious snacks are served daily. Meal substitutes are offered for those individuals with specific dislikes or allergies. Private dining services are available to our residents and their families for special events. Under the supervision of a licensed registered nurse, personal service aides assist with medication and activities of daily living on a 24-hour basis. We can provide comprehensive rehabilitation services for our residents wellness. Daily housekeeping and laundry services are provided. A beautician and barber furnish a full range of hair care for our residents. A variety of religious services are available to our residents. Scheduled transportation for our residents medical appointments are offered for their convenience. Briarwood Manor has small and large appointed lounge areas located throughout the facility for the residents comfort. Professionally decorated furnishings and abundant windows provide a warm atmosphere for the residents enjoyment. Residents artwork is displayed throughout the facility to enhance the home like setting. In our large lounge area there is a theater screen built into the ceiling for our residents' movie viewing pleasure. The activities staff provides and encourages social interaction and self-esteem through a variety of activities and entertainment both in-house and throughout the community. Individual programs are designed to emphasize abilities and compensate for limitations and handicaps. Some of these events include musical programs, daily exercise sessions, Bible study, bingo and card groups. Case Management services provide counsel for residents, families and friends regarding social, financial, medical issues and various community resources. The Case Manager helps develop and sustain social, emotional and physical well-being to the residents during their stay here. |
